Softwave therapy.
The next-generation acoustic-wave system — distinct from traditional shockwave. FDA-cleared Softwave Tissue Regeneration Therapy (TRT) uses unfocused, broad acoustic waves to support blood-flow improvement, connective-tissue activation, and pain reduction — with virtually no discomfort during treatment.

Unfocused acoustic waves, broader healing response.
Softwave Tissue Regeneration Therapy (TRT) is an FDA-cleared acoustic-wave technology built on more than two decades of clinical research. Instead of a tightly focused pulse, Softwave projects a wide, unfocused acoustic wave across the treatment area — activating the body’s own repair signals at a tissue level.
How it works
The Softwave applicator generates parallel acoustic waves that travel into the soft tissue and reach a much broader area than a focused beam. As those waves pass through the tissue, they create gentle mechanical stimulation — a process called mechanotransduction — which signals cells to begin a natural repair response.
Studies suggest this signaling may help support the body’s own resident stem-cell activity and improve local micro-circulation. Many patients report reduced pain and easier movement within just a few sessions.
FDA-cleared for
Softwave TRT is cleared by the FDA for the following clinical indications — the language below is exactly as approved.
- Improvement in blood flow
- Connective tissue activation
- Pain reduction
- Muscle improvement
Two acoustic tools. Different jobs.
We offer both technologies because they’re built for different problems. Neither is “better” — they’re complementary. Dr. Banman matches the right tool (or both) to your case after the exam.
Unfocused acoustic waves.
Broad, gentle, regenerative.
- Wave typeUnfocused, parallel — covers a wider footprint of tissue.
- IntensityLower — virtually pain-free during treatment.
- Best forTissue regeneration support, plantar fasciitis, joint pain, soft-tissue injuries, broader pain zones.
- SensationGentle tapping — most patients find it comfortable.
- CourseTypically 5–10 sessions.
Focused acoustic pulses.
Targeted, intense, mechanical disruption.
- Wave typeFocused beam — concentrated into a small target area.
- IntensityHigher — firm tapping pressure, adjustable in real time.
- Best forStubborn scar tissue, calcific deposits, chronic tendinopathy, trigger points.
- SensationStrong but tolerable — mild soreness 24–48 hours after.
- CourseTypically 3–6 sessions.

Two tools, two jobs.
Both deliver acoustic energy into tissue, but they aim it differently. Compare the two side by side — neither replaces the other.
Unfocused
Wide, parallel wavefronts- Broad treatment area per pulse
- Lower intensity — virtually pain-free
- 5–10 minute sessions
- Activates cellular repair across a wide zone
Focused
Narrow beam, single focal point- Precise targeting at a single depth
- Higher intensity — may have some discomfort
- 10–15 minute sessions
- Breaks up calcium deposits and dense scar tissue

Where Softwave may help.
Softwave is FDA-cleared for blood-flow improvement, connective-tissue activation, pain reduction, and muscle improvement. Many patients report it helps support recovery in areas like:
Plantar fasciitis
Heel and arch pain that hasn’t resolved with stretching or PT.
Shoulder pain
Rotator-cuff irritation, frozen shoulder, and chronic shoulder soreness.
Knee pain
Tendon and joint discomfort — runner’s knee, jumper’s knee.
Tendinopathies
Achilles, elbow, hip, and other chronic soft-tissue cases.
Soft-tissue injuries
Sprains, strains, and lingering muscle pain.
Back & hip pain
Localized back, glute, and hip discomfort — often paired with chiropractic care.
What to expect.
Softwave sessions are short, comfortable, and require no recovery time. You’re in and out and right back to your day.
Quick exam & mapping
Dr. Banman confirms Softwave is the right fit for your case and identifies the treatment area. No anesthesia, no needles, no prep.
About 10 minutes of pulses
The Softwave applicator glides over the skin with a conducting gel, delivering thousands of unfocused acoustic waves into the tissue. Most patients feel only a gentle tapping — it’s virtually pain-free.
Walk in, walk out
No downtime. You can drive yourself home, return to work, and resume normal activity immediately. Some patients notice mild warmth in the treated area for a few hours.
Plan over several weeks
Most courses run 5–10 sessions, typically once a week. Many patients report noticeable changes within the first 2–3 visits, with continued improvement as the course progresses.
Quick answers about Softwave.
Does Softwave hurt?
Softwave therapy is virtually pain-free for most patients. Because the acoustic waves are unfocused and lower-intensity than traditional shockwave, you’ll feel a gentle tapping sensation rather than a sharp pulse. Most people remain fully relaxed throughout the 10-minute session, and many describe it as comfortable, even soothing.
How is Softwave different from your shockwave therapy?
Traditional shockwave therapy delivers a focused, high-energy beam into a small target — it’s our go-to for breaking down stubborn scar tissue and calcific deposits. Softwave (TRT) delivers an unfocused, broader, lower-intensity wave across a wider area — designed to support cellular activation, blood-flow improvement, and connective-tissue response. They’re complementary tools, not competitors. Dr. Banman recommends whichever (or both, in some cases) best fits your case.
How many Softwave sessions will I need?
Most patients complete a course of 5 to 10 Softwave sessions, typically scheduled about a week apart. Many patients report improvement within the first few visits as the cumulative cellular response builds. Dr. Banman maps a specific session-by-session plan after your initial exam so you know exactly what you’re committing to.
Is Softwave safe?
Yes — Softwave Tissue Regeneration Therapy is FDA-cleared for improvement in blood flow, connective tissue activation, pain reduction, and muscle improvement, with a strong safety profile. There are no needles, no anesthesia, no incisions, and no medications involved. We screen carefully for the few situations where Softwave isn’t appropriate — active infection over the treatment area, certain blood-thinner regimens, or pregnancy directly over the treatment zone.
Is there downtime after a Softwave session?
None at all. Softwave is a true walk-in, walk-out therapy — you can drive yourself home, return to work, train, or run errands immediately afterward. Some patients notice mild warmth or slight tenderness in the treated area for a few hours, which is a normal tissue response and resolves on its own.
What does Softwave cost — is it covered by insurance?
Softwave therapy is generally not covered by insurance. HSA and FSA accepted. We offer transparent per-session and package pricing so you can plan around the recommended course. Call (727) 213-2982 for current pricing or view our payment options →
